Turf Ramsden
You may see Turf Ramsden in the KLWA Lake Patrol boat as you enjoy our pristine waters. Turf became the KLWA Lake Patrol Officer in 2017. He helps make Kezar Lake safe and enjoyable for everyone. Turf is a long-time resident of Lovell and previously served as a Town Selectman. If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet Turf, please say hello when you see him on the lake. Turf has experience helping people of all ages in a calm and effective way.
Why do we need a Lake Patrol?
Maintaining Maine State mandated “headway speed” within 200 feet of the shore line.
Reminding boaters to have up-to-date registrations and milfoil stickers.
Ensuring safe distances from canoes, kayaks and sailboats.
The Patrol Officer also offers assistance to boaters in trouble, working closely with State and Local officials, the Maine Warden Service, local Fire and Rescue, Kezar Lake Marina, and if needed, State police and Oxford County sheriffs.

Funded entirely by private donations, KLWA has sponsored a patrol boat and Lake Patrol Officer for over 20 years. The officer monitors boating and water recreation activities on the lake, communicating safety and best practices to boaters and other watercraft operators.
