Maine Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program (VLMP) provides lake data and information concerning lakes and their watersheds by coordinating a scientifically based lake monitoring and data management system. Provides training for water quality monitors. This site has the up-to-date information,and photographs,of invasive aquatic plants now present in Maine.
Maine Lakes Conservancy Institute (MLCI):Award-winning on-site learning programs;Floating Classroom provides hands-on lake ecology experience for adults and children during summer;schools program takes experiential curriculum to middle school students.

Gulf of Maine Research Institute (VitalSigns):This resource is an interactive website. It is educational and documents invasive species in Maine,both aquatic and terrestrial. Very interesting. The KLWA and LIPPC (Lovell Invasive Plant Prevention Committee,a Town committee) are partnering with VitalSigns in a program we’re calling ‘Eyes on the Water’,which will not only train volunteers to identify aquatic plants (both invasive and native),but to report them to the VitalSigns data base. This data base includes input from all over Maine. ‘Eyes on the Water’will have two training sessions during the summer,one in July and one in August (date tba) and will have a presence at Town Day. Please stop by and say ‘hello’,and plan to join in a training session to find out what it’s all about!
